In recent years, as countries around the world have strengthened their inbound tourism, environmental pollution and destruction of nature caused by overtourism have been observed. In reflection of this, sustainable tourism that takes into consideration local culture and the environment was proposed at the United Nations Earth Summit and has been attracting attention.
In this program, participants will learn about sustainable tourism from the case of Hachioji City, which is registered as a Japanese Heritage site and attracts tourists from all over the world.

    Presentations time

(What I liked most about this course) I like the planning of the fourth day, which is to visit the mount Takao! It was really fun and a whole new experience for me! I get to know that the japanese story actually related a bit to Chinese culture (tengu, eight fairies). Hope to join this program again with more field work and longer period of time!!!
