Besides pollution and destruction,natural disaster also cause the environmental changes. As natural disaster is very frequent in Japan our consideration is focused drills. After we had a great loss during great east japan earthquake we put more efforts on the development in Science of Disaster Prevention. In this program we offer professional lecture regarding Science of Disaster Prevention, Pollution of Environment. We also tried to catch the aspect of disaster prevention from many sides throughout the group work and question and answer sessions. We also shared the practical skills incorporation with Japanese companies with students.
地球規模の環境汚染、破壊等が進むなか、自然災害も大きな環境の変化をもたらす要因になっている。災害大国といわれる日本では、これまで多くの防災・減災対策が実施されてきたが、東日本大震災ではそれでも大きな被害があり、さらに対策の強化が進められている。本プログラムでは、防災・減災、環境汚染について多角的に具体例を挙げながら学習し、防災、減災、環境教育に対する意識を高め、進んでは具体的な対策を考えることを目的とする。大学において、環境・災害の両面の研究を行っている担当教員の協力を得て講義、実験等を行うとともに、アメリカの高校生の防災、減災、環境に対する取組を報告、検証しながら、防災・減災と環境の改善・維持、延いては持続可能な社会構築へと繋げることを目指す。また、災害問題、環境問題に係わる、日本企業の実践技術も紹介する。

It was nice learing the history of natural desaster in Japan and how they developed desater prevention system. In this program we learned how we could strenghten the building. It was quite interesting learning about desaster prevention in Japanse transpotation system.
日本の災害の歴史について学べてよかった。このプログラムでは建物の耐震性を強化する方法を学んだ。日本の公共交通機関における防災の取り組みも興味深かった。

Exchange and Study Abroad Program
There are two study abroad programs, Exchange Program and Summer Program, open to overseas students at J. F. Oberlin University. Students will learn about and experience Japan within the supportive environment of J. F. Oberlin University from both programs.

J. F. Real-time interactive cultural exchanges and language exchange events are conducted using Zoom and other tools.
